Playhouse has been founded in 2002 as a sublabel to the Frankfurt label Ongaku Musik and as a sister to Klang Elektronik. Founders and owners of the label are the DJ’s and club managers Macias und Heiko »MSO« Schäfer in cooperation with Roman Flügel and Jörn Elling Wuttke.
Both are co-founders of the legendary record store “Delirium” in Frankfurt am Main. And one of the best clubs ever the “Robert Johnson” in Offenbach is a close companion.
Playhouse
Initially founded to be an alternative to Klang Elektronik to focus on the more traditional definition of house-music, playhouse soon developed to be a independent and unique label, which supported a modern and futuristic sound.
The Japanese word for music is “Ongaku” and therefore the name is more than suitable for the coalition of Ongaku / Playhouse / Klang Elektronik.
